Whether by plane, train or automobile, traveling requires placing a lot of trust in others. No matter how safely you drive, you must trust that others will take the same level of care. We all know too well, however, that you cannot predict the actions of others, and some drivers choose to act in a negligent or reckless manner when it comes to their roadway behaviors.
A fatal accident occurred in Sacramento, California, this past weekend that was the result of reckless road rage. The reckless road rage was targeted at a young, male driver but the target's 4-year-old son paid the ultimate price.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the boy had been riding in a 1999 Honda Accord with his mother and father. They were traveling along Interstate 5 when the father made a quick exit at a close distance away from a Chevy pickup truck. The driver of the truck became enraged at the maneuver and proceeded to follow the family down the exit.
When the truck caught up to the small car, the truck driver tried to force the car off of the road. The push caused the father to lose control of the car and it careened down an embankment. The 4-year-old child was thrown from the vehicle and fatally injured.
As the mother and father watched their baby boy being thrown from a vehicle, the driver of the truck was fleeing the scene.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the hit-and-run fatality that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012.
